The BCCAG is committed to influencing any relevant organisation or individual that can have a positive effect on reducing the impact of climate change. Specifically, we highlight to government and others the level of community concern about Climate Change and related policies by:

  • working with businesses and local council to reduce greenhouse emissions and to provide residents with sustainable energy solutions;

  • working with residents to reduce Climate Change impacts;

  • working with community groups and schools to provide education about Climate Change impacts and responses.

By joining BCCAG, you can add to a collective voice to let our leaders know that there is much that the Australian and other governments could do to assist both industry and consumers in their efforts to live and operate more sustainably.

BCCAG representatives meet regularly with local, state and federal government to put forth our concerns and call for clean renewable energy, and relevant issues such as gross metered solar feed-in tariffs, and better public transport.

Why join a Climate Change Action Group?

Climate change is the major challenge facing our communities and the natural environment. We’re already seeing the effects. Our ecological systems will have trouble adapting over short time frames leading to species endangerment and extinctions. We have a moral obligation to ensure that future generations of humans and other species survive in a habitable world.

There is significant information available on the topic of climate change and most people have a clear understanding that their individual consumption patterns contribute to the overall rise in greenhouse gas emissions. Surveys indicate that Australians accept that there will be increased prices associated with fighting climate change, and are calling for more decisive action and strong leadership.

However, while most people are familiar with the issue of climate change and its causes and considerable effort has been undertaken to educate the Australian public about it, there has been an overall lack of behavioural change in consumption of petrol, energy, and water.

The BCCAG believe that fostering a shared commitment and sense of community responsibility will encourage households to change consumption patterns to move toward sustainability. We are firmly committed to a sustainable Australia in which citizens are aware of the environmental issues they face, are educated about reducing their carbon footprint, and are empowered to affect change in their own lives and those around them to establish a greener Australia. This goal cannot be achieved without engagement and creative input from all parts of our community.

The group enjoys an excellent reputation for organisation and professionalism, which has led to working relationships with local council, media and individuals.
